The 14/48 Projects presents 'When You Wish Upon A Pizza'

Free family 14/48 fun kicks off at Volunteer Park July 14 & 15

The 14/48 Projects is headed back to Seattle parks once again this summer with 'When You Wish Upon A Pizza.' Written by Amy Escobar and directed by Monica Galarneau, this new play will be performed FREE in parks around Seattle (and Chimacum, WA) starting July 14, 2018.

When Pat makes a wish upon their personal pan pizza, the Fairy Goudamother sends them tumbling into the pizza box and on to a grand adventure through the Magic Kingdough, where they meet classic storybook characters with a cheesy twist. Pat goes on a journey of discovery where they learn about responsibility, family and love with pizza puns and plenty of fun.

When asked about the inspiration behind the play, playwright Escobar says, 'I wanted to tell an original story with all the trappings of your classic storybook adventure. Instead of simply re-telling fairy tales that are often problematic, I focused on creating a new play that was conscious of gendered language and inclusive while still bringing in those familiar characters and tropes. I also wanted to write something with gnomes and pizza puns, because writing is a solitary endeavor and it's more fun with cheese puns.'

'When You Wish Upon A Pizza' embraces the collaborative, improvisational style The 14/48 Projects has perfected over years of free family performances in the parks, and combines veteran performers and newcomers alike. This summer's cast features Katie Jasper, Geb Brown, Alysha Curry, Rachel Delmar, Cristin Fenzel, Blake Simpson, and Zenaida Smith. Costumes designed by Corinne Magin.

Schedule of performances:
July 14 & 15 @ 2pm at Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival in Volunteer Park; July 21 @ 5pm at Salmon Bay Park; July 22 @ 5pm at Ballard Commons Park; July 25 @ 6pm at Dr. Blanche Lavizzo Park; July 28 @ 5pm at Othello Park; July 29 @ 5pm at Pritchard Beach; August 4 @ 5pm at Roxhill Park; August 5 @ 5pm at Highland Park Playground; August 12 @ 2pm at HJ Carroll Park (Chimacum, WA); August 18 @ 5pm at Powell Barnett Park.

All performances are FREE and open to the public. Donations to support the artists are accepted and encouraged. More information at http://www.the1448projects.org/14-48-parks-show.

The 14/48 Projects: Season Five
The 14/48 Projects is in the middle of its fifth season producing '14/48: The World's Quickest Theater Festival,' 'Theater Anonymous,' and other collaborative artistic events. The 14/48 Projects continues to develop an international network of 14/48 Festivals, and recently partnered with 14/48: UK for '14/48: Takeover' with professional artists producing scripts written by students simultaneously in three locations in the US and Great Britain. We continue to support '14/48: HS,' an entirely student-run festival, and are in the middle of a five-year production agreement with ACT Theatre, making our signature festival a cornerstone of the ACTLab program. Our Partner Project program continues to support new work by festival veterans all around Seattle, most recently Infinity Box Theater Projects' 'Centrifuge 2.' The 14/48 Projects is led by President JodiPaul Wooster and Executive Director Shawn Belyea.
