Khalid, Andrea Bocelli announce Seattle shows in 2018

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

It's going to be another busy year for live music in Seattle with dozens of great concerts already booked for the first half of 2018. Already on the docket are appearances by Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Pink, Sam Smith and Harry Styles. You can add Khalid to this list, as the newly minted Grammy nominee has announced a performance at WaMu Theater on May 3. The 19-year-old earned five Grammy nominations this week, including nods for Song of the Year ('1-800-273-8255') and Best New Artist. His debut album American Teenager featuring the hit single 'Location' has sold 1 million copies thus far. Tickets to see Khalid here in Seattle are on sale now at www.LiveNation.com or charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.

You can also add Andrea Bocelli to the list of artists headed to the Emerald City next year. The beloved Italian classical singer will perform at Key Arena on June 24, as part of a West Coast US tour that also includes Portland, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose. Tickets go on sale December 11 (10am) at all Ticketmaster locations; price range is between $78.00 and $370.00.

And here are a few more concerts to announce: Mat Kearney at Moore Theatre (February 20), Herbie Hancock at McCaw Hall (March 1) and Peabo Bryson at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley (March 1-4, six shows total).

If you hadn't already heard, Taylor Swift has included Seattle on her 2018 tour to promote the release of her latest album Reputation. Though the record came out a few weeks ago, it almost immediately became the biggest-selling album of the year. Swift will perform at CenturyLink Field, the same venue she appeared at during her 2015 tour, on May 22. This week, she added 9 more concerts to her itinerary with second shows at LA's Rose Bowl and Chicago's Soldier Field. Ticket information can be found at www.taylorswift.com.

Speaking of Harry Styles, due to popular demand additional seats have been released for all dates on his upcoming North American tour, including the Seattle show at Key Arena on July 7. Newly available tickets for all performances are on sale now at www.LiveNation.com, or charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.

Finally, I forgot to mention the recent passing of another music legend. Malcolm Young, founding member of the iconic hard rock band AC/DC, passed away on November 18 at the age of 64. The group rose to fame in the '80s with such classic hits as 'You Shook Me All Night Long,' 'Hells Bells,' 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap' and 'Back in Black.'
